Found this piece laying on top of soil in field that had just had ammonia applied and was raised from the applicator. It looks like its off a musket, it's weight is 2.7 oz. but I don't think I'd be that lucky. Anyone have any ideas?

. I was thinking a latch for something. There appears to be a pin at the bottom where it was held in place.

I need to ask is it "Metal". If this is the case, and the location it was found. I would say it was sheared off of some kind off farm equipment. More modern than artifact. If it is stone than its a rock. IMO

Tap on it with a hammer
the crust should fall of and you will see what's left of the iron object.
