Time to pick your brains. The gti cuff is huge, no joke I have almost an inch gap on each side of my arm. I know they have to make some kind of insert, padding or something that would help. I haven't been able to locate anything, or perhaps one of you know a better solution. Also any ideals on a strap that goes across the shouldler to take the weight off? I saw the one on kellyco, I think they call it the EZ Strap, the way it came across the chest of a male model does not look like it would be comfortable for a female to wear. Would a weed eater strap work?
Thanks

txkickergirl,
I'm sure you'll get some info from someone who knows more than me. Just a thought..maybe you could find some kind of arm band you could wear where the cuff sits. i.e. make your arm bigger instead of the cuff smaller. The strap issue..not a clue. I guess the ace kinda spoiled you..lol. I just got mine and the best thing about it is how light it is. good luck.. Copperhead

Know anyone who has a couple extra neoprene mouse pads they're not using? Trim them to size and spray some 3M 77 Contact Adhesive on the pads and brace (with the cloth cover removed if so equipped) and it will pad it well and weatherproofly. Weatherproofly? Is that a word?

i would contact Garrett and see if they would send some of the neoprene padding to you that is already in there. from what i understand they are pretty accommodating to their customers.......just a thought.

great ideas, I just might have to customize my detector....pimp it out!

Rent a heat gun and set it to 500 degrees. Gently heat the wings and bend them in until they fit. I used my heat gun to widen the stand on my Ace 250.

I could make a better recommendation if you would have posted a picture of the cuff. That way, I would be able to tell what type of adhesive or fastener you would need to attaché the modification with.

You might be able to use an adhesive backed weather stripping. Commonly found in hardware stores. It comes in different widths, thicknesses, lengths and densities. I’ve found that most of the times the surfaces that an adhesive is being applied to needs to be degreased/cleaned thoroughly. Then you’ll have more of a chance of the bond being permanent or semi-permanent. The initial application is most important; follow the products instructions carefully/closely.

You can add more padding or if possible, make some cuts on either side of the cuff and add a velcro strap across.

Adding the padding is one easy way to go. You can also add a Velcro strap across the cuff to secure your arm.

On the strap to help take the weight off the arm, don't buy one from K, instead buy some webbing from a fabric store and make a large loop on one end to go around your neck. On the other end you can fasten it to the shaft or coil for supension. It is lots cheaper.

I use a hipmount, but I have put on all my cuffs, a thin trimned peice of spung. I glued it in place years ago and it still works great. Mike.

Well thanks everyone. I did get a strap, will let ya'll know what I think of it, and as for the cuff, I might add the padding, but I also bought another detector. Its a garrett x400 and the cuff is the same style as the 2500 but smaller, so I might try to switch the two if I can. I needed the other detector like a hole in my head, but I have been meaning to get my dad one so his is now the the proud owner of the x400
