I see a number marked. Wonder if it’s not for a safety deposit box.

It looks like the same design as the tag on this "TRAVELING TELLER COMPARTMENT COIN BANK"

https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/verona-nj-trust-co-traveling-teller-1809947480

Verona NJ Trust Co. Traveling Teller Compartment Coin Bank No 786I recently purchased this Verona NJ Trust Company Compartment Coin Bank at a local Raleigh, NC Estate Tag Sale. This "Traveling Teller" was manufactured by the "Automatic Recording Safe Co." and it is referred to as a compartment bank because each coin denomination is inserted into its own designated slot and is stored in its own slot or compartment and the running totals for each denomination is indicated by markings on the side. There is a round hole on the bottom in which paper money can be inserted. The most recent patent dates stamped on the bottom are from 1913 and there were also other patents pending. The oldest patent date is from 1904.
