Just need some ideas? Is this an old ochre grinding bowl? Never found anything out here in Mt like this. What do you think? I also found the broken point tip and biface within twenty feet. I forgot to get a photo of the biface in situ.

What's the material on the odd one? Looks like the circle is perfect

May be a mediate. If not, a paint dish. Look close by the place that you found it and a Mano may be close .

This is too small to be metate and mano.

I think the concave center is also too large to be a nutting stone. Paint mortar is what I really think.

I have some literature somwhere that was compiled by an early settler that documented from word of mouth the collecting of yellow, purple, and red ochre from specified areas here in Mt. The most prized a fought over was the red ochre. If I remember right, this was found west of Lewistown Mt. This area was much fought over, not just for the large amounts of game in the area but for the rights of obtaining this red ochre.

Maybe something like this?_

Digger, you have had a good couple of weeks. I think that is a paint Mortar as well. If it was found on same location as the eccentric, you have found a ceremonial ground. With the proper company, you may be the break through for the use of the eccentric! Cool thought huh?

Concreation balls are formed in sandstone like structures simular to the one shown which can leave a shallow hole.

All the sandstone in the area that the artifact was found is primarly all flat sandstone (see in situ photo). I did not notice any other type of anomalous pieces of sandstone other than this piece.
