Bank had $20 in Ikes, one was this 1978S proof. Never found one of these before. A few years ago, I got the 1971S silver clad (not proof). While this one isn't worth much over face value, it is a nice coin nonetheless. There were also some nice uncirculated coins in the lot

Also searched $235 in dimes over the weekend and got these 2 silvers. Improves on a bit of a dry spell I have had lately. YTD results: searched $6,160 in dimes - 75 silvers plus 1 impaired proof - .122% silver hit rate.

CJ: were the dimes all from bank rolled MWR boxes, or some CWR's. Every little bit helps. I'm going to try to concentrate my dime rolls on CWR's preferred first, then MWR. My chances for a good hit might be better, dimes are drying up VERY FAST.

One was from a CWR and the other was MWR from 2 different banks. Here in the NYC area there are a lot of banks so I get $50-80 in dimes at 2-3 banks fairly quickly and then search at home. I don't search boxes - never had any luck - in any denomination. I have not found much in MWR this year, and frankly, I don't like MWR dimes or cents (nickels are ok). When I go into a bank I often ask specifically for CWR. Also, I don't have a machine to dump coins, so MWR is also a pain in the neck for me as I have to re-roll them. Although I did find a new place to spend halves - the self service checkout machines at the Home Depot near me take them.

You consider $4.75 not much over face value?

Then I was mis-spoken. If its worth $4.75 - great. Although many posters on here have said in the past that you can't get much for them. When I get them, unless they are in very bad condition, I keep them because I think they are interesting.

Sold listings on Ebay range from $1 to $8 for circulated/impaired proof 1978 clad Ike. Most though are $3 - $4.
