I found this in one of my boxes last night, looks like 2 coins put together. Again, yes, I could look it up, but what fun would that be. HH, Maverick.

I've gotten one of those before, it's copper-nickel.

I forget what that is called, but it is HK coinage.

Hong Kong was a British colony til 1997 so.

It is known as a "security edge" during the British rule in Asia, coins could be counterfeited with just a plain reeded edge, and so the British designed this new "security edge" for some of the higher denomination coins in India and Hong Kong (among others) to help prevent the ability for coins to be counterfeited.

Suddenly I have a craving for Oreos . . .

SO that is what they mean by copper sandwiched in with nickel, now i get it.

i think i found a 1 euro coin in a dime box the other day with an edge like that. I think I'd rather find a dime in penny box, but, oh well.

it's not silver, but a cool find! I found a coin from iceland a month ago, thought that was a neat find too.

Thanks for the info guys, I know I could look it up I guess, but you'd never get to see my find then, right, and I'm glad someone knew what it was. HH, Maverick.

I found a Hong Kong 5 dollar coin, looks just like that one... I thought it was a fake or something also, but looked it up... I think they might be worth a little bit, I think i remember they no longer mint them

I found mine bouncing around inside of one of my coin dump machines

Like I told you today. I found one or two of them they are pretty cool

It must have been a 1 euro cent, a 1 euro is a bit larger than a quarter.

I've seen the design before on a early "50's Hong Kong coin, so it has been in use for a while. It does, as you say, look like two coins sandwiched together.
