New At Pro

Well fired up the brand new AT pro. Set it to Pro custom with it fully open well i think the iron tones were not on. Well i ground balanced and set sensitivity to about half and man do i hear a lot of sounds. A lot of chatter it sounds like.
Any help?

I know this is not a hard machine to set up but am i doing something wrong?.

Make sure you are outside as this will help with the chatter. At first the new sounds are a little intimidating but start swinging and things will start to make sense after you get some time in on the machine. When I got mine and took it to the back yard my head was spinning with all of the sounds. I even thought the machine might be broken it made so many noises Start off listening for the nice solid tones and practice with a couple coins on the ground...that should help. Dig everything that sounds good and after your first hunt you will feel a lot better. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

You are not required to listen to all sounds if you don't want to. Here's an easy way to start: STD mode, sens 7 of 8; iron disc 40, coins program, iron audio off; You'll get nearly all coins with minimum trash, but this will cut out all gold except what IDs as nickel or zinc. But so much pleasing quiet, & deep coins sound like surface finds. When I did air tests, sens 7 of 8 on STD, dime at 10" was always high-pitched. Pro mode alternated high & medium tone, so think STD mode may have somewhat better disc. Sounds like many are detecting places that have a carpeting of nails & can't find a coin if they reject them. If where you hunt is really that bad, don't use my settings.

Dimes ID 80-85, copper memorials upper 70s-low 80s. Zincs will alternate high & medium tones. Best wishes, George (MN)

I was outside in my backyard and man so many noises. I did try over a quarter and it hit in the upper 80's and a brass water hose end also to hear the nose. So i think i just need time to learn it a little.

I run my AT Pro in Pro mode zero, iron on 23 and sensitivity 7/8 bars. Remember the sensitivity is not a linear function, so you need not run it “hot” unless the circumstances dictate it. I use the iron audio on (personal preference), but I also use Minelab machines where the operator is deciphering the continual audio tone stream.

Test the machine outside (away for EMI) in a test bed (make one in your backyard) using various objects, coins and junk. Learn how to ground balance the machine, it is very easy.

Turn off your cell phone and ground balance it.I hunt in zero mode sensitivity at high them back down. Make sure you use your iron signal button on or off. Take a little time it will quieten down as you get used to it. If in doubt dig at first then run your machine over what you dug it will come together.

When ground balancing the AT Series......turn down the sensitivity a bit, ground balance, then back to where you want it. A stable signal in the 80's is usually a coin (copper or silver) and a target in the 53 range is usually a pull-tab, especially id the audio kind of "barks" at you, but it can also be a gold ring, if it's a smoother audio signal and doesn't bounce around as much, it could be a nickel, the metallic portion of a pencil end eraser or a small piece of aluminum canslaw. That's what makes this hobby so intriguing, as you just never know until you dig it what it is. Below is a pic of where the tones change with the VDI numbers.

Thank you all for the info. Im going to try and get back out today and do a little digging if the weather holds up.
Id like to go out tomorrow to one of the big parks where they will be shooting off fireworks tonight and see what i can fins....
