NEW COIL FOR MINELAB X-TERRA UNITS!!!

I didn't make any videos of using the 15" All Terrain coil on salt water beaches. But you can read my field test comments on Coiltek's website. And, you can read my blog post over on Minelab's website at TreasureTalk. Part one is up now, with part two to follow soon. HH Randy

Folks, Meet Randy Horton. He is the king of running the Xterra units. Thanks for all the great info Randy.

Thanks for the kind words, Mike. But I don't consider myself to be anything other than a guy who has enjoyed this hobby for nearly 40 years. If I'm able to help a company field test a new product or put together a few paragraphs that helps others understand a little bit more about their detector, it's worth the time it takes to do so. And, it allows me the opportunity to "visit" with a lot of great folks who share my interest in this hobby. HH Randy

The wait is over.

We will be doing some testing at the water edge on an ocean beach.

Works like a charm on our beach, with a manual GB on the wet the sensitivity can go to 24 but it's on the edge.

Hi there !
I'm a french man so sorry for my bad langage !
What's the difference between the coils Tornado 12x13 and the 15 coiltek ?
I use a X-Terra and I search for a big coil but I hesitate between the twice.
So what is the best between the twice to search in all terrain ?
Thank you very much for your answer.
Best regards,

The way I view it, Coiltek's coil is "authorized" by Minelab to be used on the X-TERRA. On the other hand, NEL is not "authorized" by Minelab to be used on the X-TERRA. That means Coiltek worked with Minelab in designing their X-TERRA coil and NEL did not. It became obvious to me that NEL did not follow Minelab's engineering design when I saw they were selling one 7.5 kHz Tornado coil for the X-30 and 305 and a completely different 7.5 kHz Tornado coil for use on the X50, 505, 70 or 705. If NEL coils had been designed with Minelab's authorization and met Minelab's specifications, the same Tornado 7.5 kHz X-TERRA coil should work on any X-TERRA, just like the X-TERRA coils made by Minelab and Coiltek.
From a personal standpoint............... knowing that Minelab authorized Coiltek to build their X-TERRA coil, if something "went wrong" with my X-TERRA when using a Coiltek coil or one of Minelab's coils, my X-TERRA warranty would be in effect. If the NEL coil caused damage to my X-TERRA, the X-TERRA warranty would be void since NEL is selling a product that Minelab did not authorize. Performance aside, I prefer to do business with people who follow the law and do things right. Not some company who pirates someone else's licensed technology. JMHO HH Randy
