Fascinating, I delivered mail to an Irish family, big Father Ted fans, I have a spider baby sticker I got from them...treasure it...they had some photography of kids in northern Iireland just running around in what looked like abandoned lots and fires burning of debris... where I grew up, West coast, it seemed we didn't have a real strong heritage...we just considered ourselves mutts...Americans and just sort of excepted it...names of places were just names...probably because we are a young country...I've met some people here in Massachusetts who were very aware of their Irish heritage....and what life was like growing on the east coast...

I'm Ok with the baby head but that is not a true spider with 10 legs !

Is this really a big thing over there ??
Being Irish I know the game of oppression, subjugation, confiscation and control., from the receiving end... I'm not sure it is something that I could be comfortable in celebrating.. The building of nations and empires is solely an expression of power and greed.
I grew up..

Being Irish I know the game of oppression, subjugation, confiscation and control., from the receiving end... I'm not sure it is something that I could be comfortable in celebrating.. The building of nations and empires is solely an expression of power and greed.

It is for over half our country, maybe more....what people may not understand who don't live here and maybe due to media bias, both from here, the cnn, ABC, NBC etc, the journalists vote majority democrat or BBC which is mostly government funded, it's hard to be critical when the government pays your salary and monitors your speech...people only get that viewpoint...it amazes me when I tell people here in Massachusetts what it was like to live in Seattle and watching it decline, having a whole block taken over by protesters, the chop zone, our own govenor denied knowing about!...defunding the police and cementing the station door and then setting fire to it....drug camps, human trafficking etc ...they hadn't heard about any of that..they only had an image of the space needle, starbucks, and Nirvana.
but that being said there is alot to be grateful for here...free speech is one....and the people that signed the declaration of independence were signing their death warrants...they understood oppression...
So without becoming a wind bag...too late I know...it is true that a haughty spirit comes before a fall and pride comes before destruction...no country is perfect but being humble and grateful (thank you for taking Rosie O'donnel) and not forgetting your history are probably good things....if you believe in good and bad.

My point, in-case taken wrongly, was that our fight for independence is still ongoing, we don't have 250 years to celebrate, the oppression is still ongoing ,, but still I don't feel that patriotism is reciprocated by the state... we would live , fight and die for 'our nation',, but what would it do for you ?? ... next to nothing... so the pride and fervour is misplaced when aimed at protecting those who enslave us.. this is just my opinion.. Generations of my family fought and died to try and remove the strong arm of the oppressor from 'our country' ... only to be ultimately betrayed by the 'elected' government , and have the country overrun by peoples displaced by wars that we had no part in...
For all of my love for éiRe , i can see that it does not love me...

It wouldn't be the first time I misunderstood something...just ask my wife. It's not hard for me to talk about eagle's rights when someone is talking about equal rights..Rosie is/was a celebrity who left our country and was one of the few who followed through on her promise to leave after the last election..and has had an ongoing , years long feud with our current president..
her psychiatrist advised her to move on and to stop obsessing.

I think your ancestors must have felt moved enough to fight for and sacrificed themselves for a better future...I commend them...I'm truly saddened by the loss of culture that is disappearing over there...not everyone arriving has good intentions or want to try and assimilate....

It's a glorious day! Alittle warmer than I like..
82 degrees inside...one air-conditioner and 3 or 4 fans going...my cat is not very smart...he'll sit in a window and like a frog in a frying pan will gradually cook to death..
