Got out this morning before it got real hot and was able to extract a 26 wheat and two Roseys (46 and 62D), along with about $1.30 in clad. More importantly, I got an education about the history of the old farm I'm detecting. There are still about eight cottages creekside on the property; Hurricane Ivan wiped out several others. The "campers" (as one of the owners called them) used to stay all summer; the families would live in the cottage while dad was working in Pittsburgh. They had money, apparently, and I'm finding it
. Better yet, the mother, now deceased, used to run a little candy store out of the old farmhouse (circa 1860). Once the cold weather kills off the growth in that area, we'll be sure to hit it! The owner said, "this place could take you a year!" My reply, "As long as I have permission, I'll be here." She was okay with that. There are big piles of sand around the property, courtesy of the flooding Ivan caused; the kids enjoyed playing in it, allowing me to detect without breaking up too many squabbles.
