Ordered the GTI 1500 yesterday from a local dealer. $668.05 which leaves me some $$ for new headphones that I really need anyhow. I am looking at Koss UR-29 for $30 at Kmart. They are pretty bomber and have inline volume control.

Lets hope your finds pay for your new purchase in a short time. HH

I know you will watching every UPS truck in your area...Good luck with your new machine.

When I ordered my new coil last week I'd run to the front of the house every time I
heard a low rumbling engine coming down my road. I'm like a big kid anyway.
Have fun and find a bunch!!

Hey, thanks for the encouragement ! I picked up the GTI 1500 on 10-4 and took it for a test run on 10-7 @ 7pm - 8pm. Thank the lord for backlight. I used my LED headlamp and was getting hits all over my neighbors yard. I started under where they have had a hammock for a few decades. No real treasures yet, but I did dig a grommet from a tarp, an old nail and some foil. One piece of foil appeared to be from an old timey dairy product. This morning yielded less interesting finds two doors down of two thumb tacks. After looking at the picnic table cover I see where they came from. This detector is very cool. Still on the preset of coins. Already broke one plastic garden trowel, sorry mom.

Now for the more experienced..... I want a pro pointer or bullseye II probe of sorts. Who can steer me in a good direction ? I have the $$ ready to go. Now to cut some grass and get to some more hunting.

This is so very cool ! I've always liked playing in the dirt. Which brings to mind something my Gramma used to ask me. "Do you want to grow up and be a ditch digger !?" I think she saw the gold digger in me. :)

Thanks for the help everyone and please hurry on the probe info.. This money is burning a hole in my pocket. Let's spend it before the US dollar drops in value.

Found the info. about the Harbor Freight mini detector. My "local" source @140 miles R/T has it for $15. Or I can order it from somewhere and get snail mail for 10-14 days at minimal shipping ($7). On the other hand it only costs me about 3 hours and @ 48 miles per gallon about 3 gallons = $11.00 + $15.00 = $26.00 and I have it in hand that day.

Like to hear more about this ........anyone ? Whites and Garrett are 80 - 150 smackers.

First coin.....

Tonight yields first coin.....1981 P dime ! Also an 83 gram brass sundial pointer from my neighbors yard along with a .22 caliber bullet casing. GTI 1500 hits them all accurately. Went nuts on the brass pointer at 3" ! .22 casing was smaller than a coin just like it said.

Anyone on the handheld probes !? Plan to pick up the Harbor Freight one on Sunday.

Welcome to the GTI family I have a GTI 2500. You have spent some coins on a good detector now why not buy a good pin pointer. I know some people that think the harbor freight one is ok but I believe you get what you pay for. I have an auto max that is aquward to carry but did ok. recently I bit the bullet and got the Garrett pro pointer. I love this thing. in the soil here in Texas it saves me a lot of work and picks out coins i probably would have missed. It's not cheap but I do not regret buying it one bit! I think Kellyco still has a special on them.

I been using the H.F. model for a 3-4 months now, still works great . Max depth is about inch and a half. I've never owned any other so I can't tell you if its a great one or just ok. It does what I need it to do.

Hey, thanks for the input ! I recently found the Detector Pro pocket probe caught my eye. It's a bit pricey and is PI. Anyone think it's a bit much for a newbie or what ? $$ isn't too big a deal right now so......

Another thing is for the Garrett Pro Pointer users. Do you find the volume level to be a bit much or is it fine for semi stealth probing ? No volume control, right ? Doesn't vibrate either ? It's kind of a toss up between the Garrett and VBP 570 unless someone thinks the extra $$ will pay off for the PI DetectorPro. Still gotta getmore info about pulse induction. Do I have that right ?

Vibraprobe seems very popular and dead simple to use. I plan to order something tomorrow or 1st thing Tuesday morning.

Thanks to all again and I'll check back after another moonlit night at the state park beach just a half mile away !

I use a VibraPro 570 ,About $130 works 2-3 inches.Great unit wouldnt leave home without it
