The GS is more rugged but it doesn't cut as neat a plug at the T handle Sampson, because the digging blade is narrow. jm2c

Only use shovels digging up buried treasure and not for single coins in parks and beaches, and on private properties. Good hunting and good luck.

I was leaning more towards the Sampson.
just wanted to be sure. thanks guys

The Sampson is what I've had for over a year. I've broken several diggers in frozen ground and rocks. So far so good with this one. It's tough as he$$

Nobody is asking you for advice on where to use what digger.

I have been wanting to buy a new shovel. I have narrowed my search down to two.
The Shark vs. The Sampson
I just cant decide on the design. opinions please!!

the groundshark is one of those things that seems like a great idea, but because of it's shape you either have to dig very tight plugs, or very ugly ones. I have been VERY happy with my Sampson and I highly recommend it.

I'll take Delilah over a Sampson any day. :icon_thumleft:

just talked to a buddy that bought the shark last week. he hates it already lol.
the sucker tried selling it to me!!
the odd shape makes it hard to dig a plug hole with any size to it.

I have been using the ground shark for a couple years now with a 40" handle and I actually love the thing. Gets in between roots well. Cant say much about the sampson yet, there's one under the tree right now for my fiancee. I think my next shovel will be the piranha to try out. Good luck

i guess it depends on what you are use to . but they all look meaner that heck!!
i'm sure they will tear some stuff up and get it done.

You could use something like this and epoxy a PVC pipe with a "T" handle onto the original handle.

thats a sweet looking hand digger. i would not change it.

The OP clearly states he wants a shovel. Seems pretty clear cut and dry. I see nowhere Jason insulted you. Not sure why hand digging etiquette needed to come into play here when the topic is shovels.
