New here and first week results

Hi everyone. I've been reading for the last few months and finally decided to register and give this a try.

Thought I'd post my first week results as a way of saying hi.

Picked up a mix of dime rolls totaling $160 from 3 different banks. Those resulted in a 1964 Rosie.

Also tried $30 in halves. $20 of that was obviously a marked and taped dump and had nothing. I thought I got lucky with an old CRW that a teller dug up. The wrapper looked 30 years old but it turns out it was 19 bicentennials and a 2000 that must have been run over by a truck.

Finally, checked a local Coinstar a few times and found a few pieces of plastic play coins mixed with a 1946 Rosie in the reject slot.

So all in all my first week let me fill the first and last slot of my new 1946-1964 Roosevelt Dime folder.

Well you've found a couple of silver Rosie's to get you started.

Warning: This hobby can be quite addicting - but it's a hobby that can be quite profitable and a lot of fun too.

Just picked up $80 more in CWR halves. Looked like someone's dumps but I found a '67 that looked clad if you were edge checking.

Also what year did Kennedy's start becoming NIFC? 2002?

on the '67

Yes, all 2002 - present halves are NIFC plus 1987 also (and 1970 and all S mint halves of course).

Thanks. I have to decide if it's worth keeping a bunch of 2003's that were in those CWR. Very dirty, but still NIFC. What do most people think on those? I was leaning towards only keeping the AU looking NIFC.

welcome to Tnet and roll hunting - congrats on your first finds!

As for the NIFC - keep a couple of each year, once you start doing boxes and pick up your volume you'll see theres plenty of NIFC out there and no real market for it. I've found a few NIFC -S- proofs (non silver) lately which was a first.

as for the 40%'s as you do more volume you won't need to date check, you can spot them all from edge checking with the appropriate lighting and table covering (i use white butcher paper). Also when you slide them out of the roll let them spread out a little so you can see about half of the front/back, even if the edge is questionable you will be blinded by the silver bling being able to see a bit of the coin surface. You will also learn to hear it clank as it slides out.
