I found this Jersey with a lot of sand stuck to it. I got most of it off. I'm wondering if anyone here can ID it.

That's a terrific find! Pre-Federal coinage. Details of (some of) the many varieties here:

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces13419.html

... and some indication of value here:

Coin Value: US New Jersey Copper 1786 to 1788

The Nova Caesarea is a New Jersey copper issued in 1786 and 1787 and is State coinage minted before the United States Government built a Mint in Philadelphia. U.S. coinage didn’t officially begin until 1793. The obverse shows a horse’s head with a plow and the legend NOVA CAESAREA, which represented New Jersey. The reverse shows a United States Shield and the legend E PLURIBUS UNUM (one composed of many).

It is a 1787 Maris 56-n variety, Rarity 1 Very Common, however, look closely for other details, they are usually struck over KGIII coppers and a few others, which makes them more interesting to collect due to the undertype.. I only ever found one and cannot see any undertype on mine. :( OK, entered it in the NJ database, it is the 34th one of that variety in the survey out of almost 1400 reported found and just shy of 1100 ID'd by variety.....

The reverse, (shield side) is without a doubt struck over another coin, I cannot make out for sure the letters, so either a KGIII or a CT copper. I circled the area where the undertype letters are showing

Hi Don
You have been documenting all varieties of NJ coppers for as long as I?ve been a member on TNET and then some!
I think you keep track of the people who have found them and where they we?re found and when? So I?m curious if you can tell me how and what coppers I own? You don?t actually have to prove that here but I?d like to know if you keep that information in some private book /cd ?
Thank you Don! Keep up the good work!

Yes, the names or psuedo forum names are entered with each coin on my Spreadsheet, but never put out in any of the reports I have done. I have to know that data so I do not get repeat inputs which does happen and I have to be vigilant to catch duplicate inputs, especially since I have been doing this survey for such a long time. (Early 2004).

That?s great Don! We all appreciate it!
Perhaps someday we can purchase your Book?. After all are found! [emoji3]

Actually, there will be a book coming out shortly with one of the Chapters being my survey with the data as of, I believe May of this year. I will post once the book is printed, I am only one chapter in the book. :)
