New member...trouble finding halves since I moved

Hello everyone!

As the title says, I have been having trouble finding a supply bank since I moved to the Missouri side last summer. Before I moved, Associated Bank used to order me four boxes every week (two each from two different branches). They were steady producers, after they switched to Loomis about a year ago, with a 3 or 4 40%'s average per box plus several NIFC and proofs mixed in. But my wife wanted to move closer to her parents. So here I am without a consistent supply bank. I have gotten a couple CU's to order me a box here or there, but they aren't really happy about it. I have thought about making the drive to the Associated branches but it would be about 2 hours round trip, not worth the gas a $3+ per gallon!

Well, we moved closer to her parents so they could watch our daughter when we are at work. So the savings from not having daycare free up more funds that I can use to hunt. Just need to find a bank to supply the halves.
Hopefully someone else is getting supplied by Associated Bank. I miss having them close by! All the tellers there were pleasant. They ordered for me, no questions asked. Now all I hear is what do you need so many half dollars for, we can't order those, or the worst f word...FEE!

Let's see. Google lists over 78,000 banks in Missouri. I would let my fingers do the walking to save on your gas mileage. Call all the banks with local phone numbers and ask if they can order you halves. You aren't lying if you tell them you are new in town and are looking for a new bank to dom some business with. You don't have to tell them how much or how little business. JP

I can try that, but I don't have the time when banks are open, since I work 8-5. Guess my old bank spoiled me since it was so easy! Maybe I will have to use a few vacation days soon to build some relationships with banks in my new area.

How do you roll hunt at all if you work 8-5? Sounds like you have to hit nothing but 6 or later banks.

I was close enough to my old supply banks that I could hit them at lunchtime on their delivery days. There are tons of banks close to my new job, but none that I can get to order boxes for me (at least without a fee). I guess I will have to get more creative in my pursuit, or find a new hobby.
Maybe I will have to buy a metal detector, and start reading that part of the forum! At least I can do that on Sundays.

If I could not find a supply bank, I would fall back to Customer Wrapped Rolls.

I think I'd pull out the phone book and try calling around.

"Hi. I'm brand new to the area, and looking for a new bank. If I bring my account to you, will you order boxes for me.....?"

I guarantee you can find at least one bank that is open on a Saturday from 9 - Noon. I work an 8-5 as well, but make my pick-ups first thing on Saturday morning. Where there is a will, there will always be a way.

Thanks for all the suggestions and support, everyone. I am not giving up! Eventually I will come across a bank or CU near me that is willing to help me out.
If there is anyone in the Illinois side of St Louis looking for a supply bank, let me know and I can send you in the direction of a good one!

tell them (the bank closer to you) that you'll open a saving cacti if they order you halts and that you will not bring them back to the bank but you need 1k a week or every 2 weeks.
