New Minelab Exp II User.. Extremely impressed

I don't know if I posted it here or not but if you search on google another forum has an emulator that I use quite often when I am home. It allows you to "program" a simulated Explore SE, II on your home computer and then see what certain targets sound like.

Now a fair warning this is an "air test" simulation at best since targets in the ground always sound a little different but it allows you some really cool freedom to mess around and see what certain settings do to your machine and how they might be better or worse for you in the field.

Weasel_Loader is seems so. Mine goes from 0 to -16, 0 accepting NO iron.

ME, already got the emulator.

Hi
This is my secon post in here and got to tell that you are really good in this.
Well I'm eager to get my Exp.II in a few days ;D. I'll pay about $1700 for it. It will come I think with a 10" coil.
How hard is it to sett for finding black sand that holds more of a small gold?
Hope you have experience and can help a newbe like me for different settings.

If your looking for natural gold nuggets, forget it. Get a X-Terra 70 for natural gold and all-round detecting.
The Expl II is better for coins & Relics.

So, no black sand?
Hardly, it's not a prospecting machine.
It has automatic ground balancing, making it even harder to trace black sand using the expl for that purpose.

But you think it is not a bad detector? I was thinking to go with my cousin to see our grandfathers bunker who fight in WW2.
Maby I buy later one that finding black sand or nuggets.

It is a great detector for sure!
Just learn how to use it and use it for what it was designed to do. Detecting coins, jewellery, relics..

The coil that comes with it I think 10". Should I buy also an other coil?
Maby a smaller one. If so, is it more accurate or does it have some other benefit?

Where can I find test with Exp.II that been used with different coils?

There is a general rule for coils; the smaller the better in trash yet it does not go so superbly deep.
Big is better for beach or where there aren't many targets around, it goes deeper then a small coil.

Buy a smaller for trashy areas, a Joey is excellent.

elusion,

About five years ago Andy Sabisch was kind enough to loan me a Minelab 8" coil to learn what a smaller coil could do compared to the 10.5" coil that came with my Explorer II. It was an eye opener and put a quite a few more keepers in my bag then I thought it would since it was only marginally smaller. Ultimately I decided to go with the Excellerator 5" coil for greater target separation and to let me get closer to the metal fences, park benches, playground equipment etc. Believe me, until you invest in a smaller coil someone else will be enjoying what you are missing. Be sure to invest in another upper shaft, it saves time for hunting and reduces wear on your coils cord.

The Explorer ll is a great detector. This will be my second season and I'm really impressed with finds found at hunted out sites where every type of detector had been used. Its not uncommon to find three to four silver coins in one hunt. Before the Explorer I used a Sovereign GT now im my opinion the second best detector.By the way I use a 1050 coil. Good Luck HH Ron

I completely agree. I just sold my DFX and bought an SE Pro. The DFX was ok at best. You will not regret purchasing a Minelab product.

@Orionsbelt...Now maybe i don't know exactly what the situation is but seriously am i the only one here who noticed how much he is paying for an explorer two? For that price it should come with SEVERAL extra coils, an inline sunray probe, digger, finds pouch, extra shaft, quality headphones, carry bag, how to book, rain/dust cover, lifetime supply of batteries....did i leave anything out? You get the idea. personally, i would do some research 1st!!! maybe it's the FOREX rate or something? ???

Sorry I have the Minelab Excalibur II not the Explorer II sorry for this error from me :-[ :tard:

Prices here in Sweden are MUCH higher then in the US, this goes for all detectors.
Often 50% higher, sometimes even more. :o
In other words 1700 USD would be a GOOD deal for a E-Trac in Sweden. Not so in other countries.

MAYBE for an E-trac, but the detector in question is a USED Explorer II. sheesh

I was using it as a example, and if you wish to know the lowest price I've even seen quoted for a Expl II is 1240 USD.
Only stock coil, rechargeable batteries, alkaline battery pack, headphones.

(imagine English accent)
If you wish to be nasty towards people, go elsewhere.

Sorry don't buy too often an used stuff, I buy this to my company so I can drag of our Swedish VAT on 25%
