I found an 18k ring with a queen’s crown setting and with what I think is a tiger-eye stone. The stone is a clear gray/black, with two distinct reflecting lines running horizontally across the middle. I think it might be from the early 60’s late 50’s and it might be of Vietnamese or Philippine in origin.

It was pushed up in a dozer scrape at an old playground. When I get it all cleaned up I’ll post a picture worthy of showing. The 18k gold mark is well worn as is the hallmark. I’ll post a pic of the hallmark too, maybe someone will recognize it.

As always,
HH

Congratulations Ant looks like a wonderful find. I too cannot wait to see this one cleaned up. Certainly don't get to see 18k found that often. What is it the ring is next to. That round looking item. It looks like a pretty big sized ring. Big or not, wow 18k awesome!!

Thanks very much everyone.

Postalrevnant, that's a marble I eyeballed about 5' away from the spot the ring was found at.

I have the cleaned up pic ready. The cathedral (I think that's what they call it) was packed with dirt but it cleaned up fairly well.

Nice looking ring.

Looks older for sure. Thanks for the before and after shots.

Really nice ring, it looks like a Black Star Saphire. A star will be in it and move as you turn the stone.

AWSOME find...what camera did you use, those are good pic's

Great bunch of photos. That ring is fantastic. Notice the 6 prongs holding in the stone (the queen's crown setting, as you call it)? That's a sign of value, they use 4 prongs for lesser quality rings/stones. I don't know about it being tiger's eye, could be something more valuable, especially since it's set in an 18k setting. Great ring, great photos, great follow-up with the pix of the cleaned ring. This thread is what I call a terrific story with a good batch of photos. Good work all around, Ant.

The new pictures are cool. The set is definitely for a higher quality stone. I was thinking possibly Champagne or Black Diamond. :o You need to find out and tell us.
