I know some of you have seen this piece before and some may not, but I took some new pictures a while back and thought I would share them. It's been almost 5 years since I found this Ft Ancient Effigy Pipe. It was found in April of 2009 in Scioto county Ohio. This piece is in pristine condition and in my top 5 of all my personal finds.

This was my first whole Pipe that I found. I started hunting in 1965, so it only took me 45 years to find one. lol

Don't give up. You never know what that next step will bring.

5 Years? It seems like just the other day when you posted that. I think we all voted banner on it. Great find and even better that you still have it. Thanks for sharing it again. Have a good season.

Reap, can you give us a little info. On this piece? I have always wanted to know what this piece is made of. Is it stone or a type of pottery/clay? Also, was it a field find? If so, how frequently was the land plowed? I ask about the plowing because I think it adds beauty to this artifact. If a field is plowed a couple of times a year, think about the probability of the pipe getting a plow scar. Probability of this piece never getting hit by the plow is almost 0. I'm glad you came along and saved this work of art. I'm not sure if it could make it through another thousand years of dodging the plow. Always love viewing this pipe.

Loved that piece since ya found it Reap! Thanks for the new pics!

That is a SUPER find:notworthy: and always will be. A intact pipe of any kind is a great find:thumbsup:

It is made from a really fine grained sandstone and it wasn't found in a plowed field. It was found along the edge of a site that was eroding away.

sweet find!!!! what is it an effigy of? a fish, bird?

Wow...that's really nice, I've not seen it before...thanks for reposting the new pictures!

Helluva nice find, Steve. I think you should give it to me.
