New pro-pointer at leaks....

Bought my pro-pointer at about two weeks ago and my last outing Sunday the vibrating was not working just sound, took off the battery cap and notice water and rust on the battery. Just wondering how good is Garrett at replacing the pointer? Will be calling Wednesday to get it fixed.

Only used it in a creek and at the beach in about 1ft of water.....

Yep great service, call them and they emailed me a return label and will send me a new once it ships....

Was it the New Pro-Pointer AT (Garrett Carrot) which is water proof to 10 feet or the first model which is all black and called the Pro-Pointer?

New pro pointer AT, I was surprised that it leaked too. That's why I bought it, was hoping to do a little Aquachigger since it getting hot and not a good idea to dig plugs for awhile.....

You should use silicone grease on the O-ring and seat it properly.

Bought it from Cabelas, as far as silicon grease the instruction said periodically not right away. So should I do it right away on the new one?

It wouldn't hurt, but I imagine it shouldn't be necessary right away either.

A common oops with the carrot. People will wipe the ring dry and sometimes accidentally nick or cut it. Be careful when applying the silicone grease.

I don't think I even opened it up because it had the battery in it from the factory, and the cap was on tight. Will be sending it back Friday and then they will ship me a new one....

When I water hunt I never use a pinpointer just a long handled scoop

Garrett has to be one of the best companies to work for. I actually was up there yesterday picking up my ATP, which wanst under warranty and completely toasted.

it cost me 120 dollars for them to completely replace the head unit and on top of that, they gave me a Garrett shirt and new headphones and handle grip.

You should have no problems at all.

Customer service has been great. They even emailed me to make sure I got the return label because I had to await two days to drop it off at UPS. Nothing but good things to say about Garett and I own a Minelab Safari.......
