We only found this spot this year just after the spring Wheat was drilled. Today we gridded the whole area on the easy to work stubble. (6 hours to me, 5 hours to Cru'Dad) This site was in the next field to the Roman Lion Site & was kind of an odd shape of coin scatter & it had very few of the usual settlement signs.:icon_scratch: At least now it's another one complete until a deep plough - tick.

9 Roman Bronze Coins
16-17th C Thimble
Snake Head Bracelet piece (Roman)
Hammered Halfpenny of Edward III
Hammered Penny of Charles I

Both hammered fell to the Deus & are in pretty good nick, the Charles is the best of its type for my album.
The surprise was the Brass Dupondius of a new Emperor we need - Lucius Verus, AD161-69 - Served in a joint reign with Marcus Aurelius. He died of a stroke at an early age of 38. The reverse shows the 2 Emperors holding hands - Rome Mint.

A hot but worthwhile day.

I always look forward to your posts Crusader! Great job on the excellent finds - congrats again! :occasion14:

Wow you guys have so much hammered silver over there! Beautiful! And great Roman coins too!

Congrats to you both on another good job

Not this year, our hammered count should be twice our Roman silver & they are nearly equal right now.

Nice hunt! Any day with silver is a good one.

will you adopt me so I can hunt over the pond there? always impressed by your finds. great job!

I think if I were ever to go detecting with you on ANY given day, it would be my hunt of a lifetime haha! You find the coolest stuff!

Lots of kings and Emperors Cru. The Charles is a nice one. I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I figured you'd have a better Charles considering all the Hammered you dig. Were Charles pennies a rare type or of poorer quality silver?

Cheers [emoji482]

totally awesome as usual. you find stuff (relics etc) that boggles the mind history wise. do you find very much trash other than iron and coke in most of your sites?

Nice going on putting a couple in the album Cru. Sounds like your Dad put in a pretty good stretch of hunting. Well done on the hammered once again they seem to finding the coil lately.:occasion14:

Do you think that thimble is a Roman artifact?
