I hit a new field tonite this place was over half mile off the road was gone before 1914. Got my 100th Indian of the yr, a toasty no date shield nickel, flat button, general service CW button and one odd shaped heel plate. The corn stalks were a mess and it was very difficult to hunt. My buddy got his first ever shield nickel and it was 1867

:occasion18: CONGRATS G4E!!! 100 IH's is fantastic. I need to get back up that way and hit some NW Ind. fields from my area.
Neat looking heel plate. First one I've ever seen that shape.

Last season I hit 174 indians, NEVER gonna come close to that number this year!

do you find them by research or randomly? I have permission to hunt some farmers fields but have no idea if they have ever been more than farmland

In the fields I hunt in NJ it doesn't seem to matter all that much if there was actually a house in the field as long as there is old houses and barns in the area. People spent a lot of time in the fields before machinery, harvesting, plowing and hunting.

We also get way more large cents, coppers and farthings than indian heads.

I research old maps to find house sites, schools, churches etc, this one was on 1872 map and gone by 1914 map

you can overlay the old maps on google earth. It works great to see if there was anything there.

Goes4ever 100 IH cents is stupendous and 174 is off the hook I think I got about seventy in twenty years. I imagine you must have about fifty plus silver this year just guessing. :notworthy:

Congrats on the 100 and last years 174. Good hunting.

I am at 92 silver this year, I don't know why but it seems like indians are very plentiful in my area, especially field sites

Congrats on the 100, your sites are definitely loaded with them, the most I've found at one site was 5

two rolls of indian heads.... wow, that is outstanding!

You've got quite a collection of Indian Heads, and silver! Congrats!

I am blown away !!!! - A hundred indians in a year ? And I haven't found ONE in nine years ????????????????

I had two field sites last yr that gave up around 18 indians each site. How many farm houses have you been to that gave up 25-30 wheats? seems like around here, pennies are everywhere!

I've had several sites that have been loaded with wheats and I'm sure I'll get one loaded with indians one of these days

A hundred Injuns - that's a whole tribe
