Could be a good place.

I'm not a big one for asking permission...but.....one of the links directs you to a page which describes "traditional" park uses.

I don't see metal detecting listed under traditional use and you may need a permit. For some reason, state parks have stiffer regulations for metal detecting, sometimes only allowing detecting in the swimming area during off season...historical areas are usually off limits.

I'd give it a shot...see if any rangers are around...and if not...detect away. If they are...ask permission.

Silver was in circulation probably through the 70's, into the 80's, even though they stopped minting them in 64. So...you got a pretty good chance of finding silver.....if no one cherry picked the area....and even then...a lot of us believe an area is never completely picked out.
