On the way home today, I did a little sluething, and found out who owned this vacant 1920's house just down the road from me. Turns out it's an 80 year old man (Mac) that lives a stones throw away from my house! Very nice guy. He gave me permission to MD it, but said it may be sold soon. By the time I got there, I had about an hour of light left.
I hit the front yard, and within 10 minutes had two Merc's by the front walkway! There are outbuildings, large oaks, and a pasture on this property too. While I was detecting, the neighbor guy rode up on his riding mower, and shot the breeze with me. Turns out he has the property next door that had Mac's dad & Mom's old turn of the century house on it! He said there was a huge foundation, chimney, outhouse, and separate kitchen on the lot. He is interested in me MDing his spot now. It's amazing how one spot leads to another. ;D
Anyways, I ran out of light tonight, and will be back at it hopefully tomorrow.
My finds today were:
*A 1935 and 1941 MERC.

*1910 Wheat- my oldest so far.

*1948 Jeff. Nickel

*A "LOOK Savings Medallion" token

*1955 Rabies Vaccine tag (Raleigh)

*A marble & some cosmetic cases.

Thanks for looking,
MM

I'm just glad I found this "forking" Merc!!! ;D

Doug! Man you always keep me laughin'! :D

You really do have some great sites and great skills...

I guess them early lunch breaks paid off! Lottsa practice...

I'm glad you never went back to the old ladies house, wo said you "smelled good".
That post gave me chills... :P

WTG on the silver of course... awesome job!

Thanks Jim.
Funny you mentioned that old lady. I ran into her TWICE recently when I was out with my family. All I could think about was her riding around on her lawn mower with that one-piece bathing suit on. NOT a pretty sight. :'( I asked her about detecting her property again, but got a "no" still. Must not of had on enough cologne I guess? ;D

Nice job, Doug, on your finds....It always looks like you have an endless amount of old home sites to hunt. Hope you score some more on your next hunt there.

Thanks Dan. We are pretty lucky to have all these old homes and farm properties still around.
This area is growing so quickly though, it's only a matter of time I'm sure.
Have a great week.

Rebel,
You got that right. I can't wait to hit the rest of the property. I was only two years away from an IH with that 1910 wheat penny. Hopefully, there are a few old silvers out there somewhere.
