So I went and found a new cellar hole to hunt this weekend and spent a few hours checking it out. It will have to be hunted either late fall or early spring as the grass and such is too tall to really hunt in. Even though I couldn't get the coil close to the ground where I needed too, I found some really great larger targets sweeping about 4 or 5 inches above the ground. One was half an old bi tonged pith fork, neat small skeleton key, and the one I am really curious about almost looks as if it could be a buckle. It is ornate with some kind of hinged clasp on the back that would have had a purpose. anyone ever seen something like this? horse tack maybe? belt buckle?

I thought it looked 1.5-2". Still big but heck I've seen earnings that size. Guess this also eliminates button cover.

I would think saddle concho but those are affixed by screw or rivet.

Saddle concho and curtain tie are the best suggestions so far for this item, if only I knew what that hinged piece was. It does have threading in the center hole.
