I just secured permission to a spot that is rich in history and known for being an Inn on a stagecoach trail dating back to the early 1700's. The property has 7 foundations in the woods, all of which are undetectable at this point due to thick growth around them. The "Inn" itself has enough ground around it that I thought it could keep me busy for the next few months. Spent 4 painstaking hours baking in the 90 degree sun and humidity and didn't come away with much to show. A lincoln penny, dreaded 1965 dime, an old buckle, a corner of a 1924 PA resident hunting license (wish it were whole :'( ) a tootsie toy jaguar and a bunch of other junk. I was able to secure permission for my uncle while there today so hopefully the next trip produces. His presence seems to bring out the best in me and forces me to concentrate more, so I hope that continues here!

Re: New spot with potential comes up empty. Next time will be better -

I find that the second time to one of these potentially great sites is almost always better. It is easier to stay focused and search once you have given a place a quick once over. I am sure it will produce for you.
Let us see the goodies from the next trip.

And in order to get to all that 1700's loot is to dig all that other stuff up first. Just be patient and hang in there. There's goodies out there

If that place date to early 17's , you will eventually find something of period there. I was out for a few hours the other day with James Bibb and Bob Szabo www.robertszabo.com and it was a scorcher in those woods in that heat.. Talk to you soon.

Thanks guys, I'm going to show patience at this place, WAY too much history to just walk away prematurely. The owners are foaming at the mouth to see some old stuff and in a way I felt they were disappointed with trip one. I explained to them the "layering" and that it may take me a few trips to really clean off the first 4 inches of soil so i can get deeper signals. There is also a strong possibility of silver caches on the land, as the great grandfather on his death bed spoke of them. I kinda shrugged it off until the great grandson came out with a mason jar full of Morgan dollars and said, this is one that he left to me, told me there should be a few more still in the ground on the property. 200 acres of land.....this could take awhile ;D
My uncle Jeff and I are going to try to hit it in the next week or so again so we will keep everyone up to date with our finds. Thanks for the support everyone, I'm gonna need it!
