Hi everyone, my name is Nick and I'm twenty-two years old. My father and I have always been in to coin collecting, but when our house got robbed years ago, the hobby just fell apart. Now we're trying to start again with the little that we have, but with a twist. That's where this comes in. I went to the bank two days ago to get $100 in dimes as I've heard this was a good source of silver. I managed to pull one out of those. Most of what I've read tells me that people average 1.25 dimes per box, so considering my luck, I went to a different bank branch of my bank and got a box of dimes. Completely skunked. After that, I went back to the other branch where I pulled the rosie and asked for another box. The teller said she didn't have a whole box, but she did have about $100 in dimes in her drawer. I took that and got another $150 in quarters. Skunked, again. My dad spent $200 at three different banks and two grocery stores on dimes and quarters, also pulling nothing. I managed to get some information from the teller at my bank. She said that her and her grandfather search halves and dollars, then proceeded to tell me that she had $50 worth of halves in the vault. I was going to ask for them, but seeing as how she was very friendly about it and gave me a little information, I decided to let them go. The next day, they were gone. :P One bank my dad went to offered to order him a box of dollar coins, not the Sacagawea or presidential dollars. We plan on going back to ask about a box of halves. Another bank told us that people come in all the time and ask for halves. Kinda sucks, but what can ya do? 
So far out of all the places we've been to, they've all been rolled by what looks to be the same company. All by N.F. String & Company in Pennsylvania. Does anyone have any experience with them or tips they can offer on the hobby? It's kind of discouraging not getting anything out of over $700 worth, but getting one out of $100. Also, does anyone have any experience with Arvest banks? That's where I bank and where I got that dime. Oh and if we start getting halves and whole dollars, where do we dump them? Also, what about CWR? Should I go for those instead? After reading some of these threads, I see that most people just spend them, but the money we have is what we plan on using over and over. Buying then dumping. Thanks for all of your help and I apologize for such a long thread.

Great for her though! She gave us much more information and told us how we can ask other banks for their bags from the coin counter and everything. I'm glad these two are at the branch I bank at, it makes things much easier. We just bought all she had, another $450 fed rolled, so we'll see how that goes and I'll post the results!
