Hey y'all!
I used to hunt for my treasures with the good ol' calibrated eyeball, but always wanted a metal detector. After talking to one of our friends about a gold/ruby ring we found, the friend insisted that my wife indulge my hobby desires. Being a dear, she bought me a Bounty Hunter "Prospector" with a 7" coil for Christmas.
I've read the manual and did some test sweeps in the back yard. Got a lot of beeps and boops, but due to the Oregon winter (read: rain/cold/lots of mud) I haven't dug any holes yet.
Can anyone give me some tips for this type of detector? I did a google search for the Prospector, but couldn't get any model numbers or info other than it's sold at a lot of discount department stores. The machine has Sensetivity and Disc/Notch knobs, a 3-way switch for "Full Discrimination, All Metal, and Tone", and an analog sweep arm dial.
Thanks in advance, and good luck!
