Hi with the new show on TV, "Diggers" as corny as it is, I think we'll see more and more novice people out there w/metal detectors in hand! That said, Where do you start in Connecticut for anything Really good? I mean better than your average penny or quarter found in playgrounds! PLEASE reply , and Thanks everyone ! Great FUN hobby!

Welcome aboard! Take a look at Sub-Forums: Connecticut for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

Get old maps, research with old books, internet search public places, events, old buildings, historical resources. Ask older people about what was,,, etc...

Depends on the age of the playground. In 2013 I dug a silver dollar near an average penny in a local playground. I found out the playground used to be the horse corral for an 1890s rail depot. I'm convinced that no one else dug it up because they were over-looking playgrounds.

Welcome to Tnet! Research is the key to older coins and artifacts. Find out where people congregated 75-150 years ago.
