I used this site to do research on a find I have and decided to join. I do not go online but a couple times a week so I will be a slow responder. My husband and I started in 1988 with a Gold Bug and worked the West from Arizona to Idaho. Didn't find much but float gold with a sluice. We stopped for a few years and now I have a Garrett Ace 150 and he has a Bounty Hunter. we haven't gotten out too much but we have found some neat stuff. Tootsie cars and milk glass canning lids. The biggest reason I got on this site was to show my copper bullet casings and splat bullet I found in a recently cleared area of old growth woods in Oregon. From the research I have done they appear to be the original 1860's Henry bullets. They have the Henry bulge with no mark on the base but the dual strike marks. Henry made the copper casing in the early 1860's. They were in a two foot sized area about 4in down. The bullet was a few feet away at the foot of the tree it must have it. Anyone one got any comments on how accurate I am? I am thrilled to have found these. Thanks and I'll be back later.View attachment 874676View attachment 874677
