New Water Hunter!

Hey guys, glad to be here. I'm an experienced land detector, been at this since I was 13 years old. I often post on the Illinois forum. I just received my first water machine for Christmas from my girlfriend (Excal II). I live in Chicago so I've got about five months before I even think of getting in the water! I know a few locals who use the Excal II but I will most definitely bug you all with tons of questions in the coming months. I really like the idea of being out on the beach or in the water on a nice day, and trust me, I know I won't find rings or jewelry every day. It's being out that really matters to me. A nice change from the woods hunting I usually do in spring/fall. Have a great day and Merry Christmas to all!

I have that diamond head scoop if you need to barrow it until you get a scoop, I will drop it off next time I see you. Oh yea, seek out Chi-Town-Bruce, he's our local beach guru!!! :icon_pirat:

Hey Twistid,

I just got my excal II this month as well, and it did the same thing when i tried bench testing it at home. I was told by a few people you can't just bench test Minelabs indoors because of all the frequencies it uses. Anywho, I'm sure it will work itself out once we get in the water. I can't wait! :thumbsup:

I have bench tested both my Excalibur 2 and Explorer SE indoors, just turn the sensitivity down. It's good enough to hear what tones and ID certain targets give. Interestingly enough, later on in the day I can't test the Excal at all, whereas earlier on in the day it's alright.
