New Years silver ! Ring count re-start

Hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year ! It's time to start the ring count re-start :laughing7:

. I got out this morning back to the school that eagleforce and I hunted yesterday . I was hoping for some great finds to start the new year . It didn't take long ! I turned on my MXT PRO , walked 5 feet and found a quarter . The 2nd target of the new year was a +78 at 3 inches , I could not believe it , a silver ring ! :headbang:

. Not more than 10 minutes later I get another +78 at 4 inches , silver ring #2 ! After that it was all clad for two hours , $10.16 . What a start to 2013 . School is closed for the rest of the week so I'll be back at it tomorrow !

Great way to start the year Glen! Love that ring with the stone! Is that amathyst? Thats a popular color right now if it is. Congrats!! :headbang:

I'd have to dig through a foot and a half of snow to just to be able to swing my detector! Spring can't get here fast enough!

It is a great feeling to see a ring in the hole. I know, I did it today too. Almost always a surprise and always makes the trip worth it all. I really enjoy seeing ones like you have there! The stone, the colors, the workmanship.

I've found quite a few in my time. But, since joining Tnet I've noticed lots of people putting up counts. Ring, gold, silver, IH's, nails, pulltabs, manhole covers,

LOL. Did I miss a contest somewhere?

I know how many rings I have and am VERY glad to have a place to share some of that joy. But, I never worried about keeping track of which number I was on.

Should I be? Well, if I should, then I know mine, ONE! LOL

I have been metal detecting for 16 years and also when I was a kid in the 1970's . I always kept track and gave numbers to my finds in a log book . No contest except between myself and my good friend eagleforce :laughing7:

. It's just the way I set goals for myself each year . This year I hope to hit 175 or better on rings :icon_thumright:

Oh, I understand goals and such. Also, friendly competition among friends. I just gave up "goals" per se, I found they were getting in the way of my relaxation. It's hard enough to stem the flow of greed when one starts finding silver and gold. It fast becomes, just one more, one more, one more!

I haven't completely given up goals though. My one goal for 2013 is to just plain enjoy myself. That takes 1 find.
