I came across this article in a 1978 New York Magazine article about swimming holes with driving distance from NYC. Since the article is 33 years old, I thought it may provide some good spots for the enterprising treasure hunter!

Scroll down to "God's Little Pools".

Swim whenever you like on your own schedule at your own perfect place. No traveling, no crowded pools,no heavy chlorine. Swimming can get you feel good in the water. Thanks for taking this opportunity to discuss this, I feel fervently about this and I like learning about this subject. Now I am going to glance up this web site usually on my PC. Everything in this article is completely true!

Well, there goes the neighborhood! :laughing7: I’m sure a lot of the New York and Connecticut hobbyists that have been detecting these honey holes for years are not going to appreciate the publicity, :tongue3: but this posting is a great example of what a little research can do for an enterprising detectorist. Good Job! :icon_thumleft:
