So I'm a total newbie just bought my first MD and took it down to the Caribbean on vaca.

Day 1 - On the beach: yielded about 10 beer caps, pieces of broken beer cans, a double ended bolt snap, and 29 cents in change... ugh! :BangHead:

Day 2 - 25 ft under water: 3 fishing net lead weights, a small metal(?) button, and... a silver(?) coin(?) !!! The latter object is corroded and encrusted. I can make out the letters "2 Franc" around the edge and what appears to be a "C" in the middle. It's pretty thin and the size of a quarter.

Would appreciate any clues as to age and origin or where to research.

Thx that may be it. Will do some light elektrolysis and try remove the crust for more clues. Interesting though how a coin from Belgian Congo made it over to the west indies that late in the 1800's when most of the slave trade hade been abolished.
