Agreed, but looks to be the frame of it, the centre piece may have been a cameo?

Funny, as I thought of a piece of hair framed. I think Victorian is right for the type of pin attachement on the back. But I like the mourning idea :icon_thumright:
 

Going to check the hole tonight, maybe what ever was in the center might be still there.
