Newby to Forum

Hi all, I am pretty new here. I have been a member but lurking. I am in New Mexico for a bit. Been going through washes and dry creek beds in the desert here. Actually I dont know squat, but have been finding some interesting rocks. I am interested in gold and nuggets with a metal detector. Anyone know anything about that?
