Some may say that digging in 102 degree heat is crazy or stupid. They may have a point, but digging your first SC button in 102 degree heat with your digging buddies right next to you is priceless. Even though it was gunked up a bit, I knew it was a good one when it plopped out of the ground. I got so excited I had to have my buddy brush it off.
The button cleaned up pretty well, but I purposely did not clean the back much due to a most amazing find. There was still some Confederate thread holding onto the shank. I just had to leave it as it was.
