Went hunting for a couple of hours yesterday and today back at the 1730's house from last year.been awhile since i went back but i'am really glad i did.found the 2 reale yesterday about 8 inches down.it showed up as a solid quarter hit.was hoping it was american when i saw it on the ground but still a nice coin.the 1864 cent was about 4 inches deep.today when i went back i was rewarded with the british coin at the beginning of the hunt. as i was leaving i got the nj cent hit which came up as a quarter on my machine.saw that it was copper and right away saw the shield then i knew what it was.the 1882 indian and the 1909 vdb was also a bonus.the fertilizer sometimes is tough on coins around here.the half cent was toast.still overall a great 2 day hunt.

Some great finds there...love seeing what others are finding in good old NJ. I'm sure Don from SJ will comment on the possible variety of the NJ Copper.

I'm glad you went back too.

WTG on getting the 2 Reale! The NJ is beat up but the reverse is an "e" reverse, the obverse side (Horse Head side) where the date should be is really hard to say but since the Reverse "e" has a Very Common Obverse of 46, I would have to say it is mostly likely a 1787 Maris 46-e variety.
