Josh and I stopped by two spots today, the one from our last post and also an old site from the summer.. My favorite find of the day is definitely the early silver cuff button. :hello2: At first I was thinking roman numeral "II", but now it's pretty clear there is a line connecting the two columns "H" Oh well, probably the owner's initial. Also ended up with a clipped quarter of a 2 reale pistareen. I also heard from Josh today that a few people think that we buy our finds and post them :D at least we started out with a good laugh from that... (look up the military enlisted paycharts for E-5's) I wish I could buy nice relics :laughing7: Hope y'all are gettin out for some fall relic hunting.. Jeff

Here's the dirty finds

I'll start with this unknown :dontknow: (a lot of civil war stuff has come from here)

IMG_0113.webp

Pretty sure this is the end of a brass, silver-plated spoon (initals "JH")
IMG_0116.webp

A large lead seal (no idea what it says.. crud doesn't wanna come off)
IMG_0117.webp

1/4 piece of early 1700's 2 reale & silver cufflink "H"

and the group (few blank buttons, musketballs, few nails, tongue to a shoe buckle, etc)

::) sigh. Our species really does need to get over all this rubbish about what finds are DUG and what are bogus ... utterly ridiculous, jealous, comments made by wackers that are one step above plant life . The true seekers know that buying finds cannot compare to the thrill of the hunt . :icon_scratch: do you shop at your local history museums ??? :laughing9: :tongue3: ahh, disregard the question , just too ridiculous to imagine someone would even dream up that nonsense. ::) That comment had to be a joke , seriously. Great finds and I think the mystery piece with the crown is an exceptional find and glad to see another Spanish piece that you routinely dig . :headbang: 8)

thanks Sniffy (Capped bust :icon_king: )

I agree Golf. The silver cufflink is something that stands above. The clipped coin is nothing to sneeze at either. Looks like a very good outing to me.

You two keep pulling out the goods Jeff. I'm interested to see what you find out about the Crown piece. I guess your not heading to Chicago anytime soon? I keep thinking you will be outta here before long and your not, still finding the good stuff. I hope you and Josh get to keep digging for a while longer before your departure.
Good luck.

I see rain on the radar headed my way, so keep up the rain dance for me.

Those are some phenomenal finds. That unknown piece is very interesting and will probably even outshine the cut Spanish...and that's no easy task. Congrats on the finds!

I think your right too romeo...a very interesting find for sure... don't know why but when I look at it, reminds me of the 7th Regiment of Foot (Royal Fusiliers)....not sure why....

My guess on the mystery crown piece is it's related to a sword hanger apparatus...WAG.
