Josh and I stopped by two spots today, the one from our last post and also an old site from the summer.. My favorite find of the day is definitely the early silver cuff button. :hello2: At first I was thinking roman numeral "II", but now it's pretty clear there is a line connecting the two columns "H" Oh well, probably the owner's initial. Also ended up with a clipped quarter of a 2 reale pistareen. I also heard from Josh today that a few people think that we buy our finds and post them :D at least we started out with a good laugh from that... (look up the military enlisted paycharts for E-5's) I wish I could buy nice relics :laughing7: Hope y'all are gettin out for some fall relic hunting.. Jeff

Here's the dirty finds

I'll start with this unknown :dontknow: (a lot of civil war stuff has come from here)

Pretty sure this is the end of a brass, silver-plated spoon (initals "JH")

A large lead seal (no idea what it says.. crud doesn't wanna come off)

1/4 piece of early 1700's 2 reale & silver cufflink "H"

and the group (few blank buttons, musketballs, few nails, tongue to a shoe buckle, etc)

Great looking finds Jeff, I to think the mystery piece is hanger related :) love the quarter :notworthy: if your buying your finds, you must have plenty of money ::)...some people ::)

:hello: just cant see in my head how this attached to where the crown would be right side up :icon_scratch:
like i said, josh and I wish we could buy some of these finds.. ::)
To me it looks like the top part was looped over something, and the bottom part, has two lugs, I think these would have been pressed over a leather fitting so it hung down....Crown up...just a thought. :P

Nice early looking Lead Cloth Seal, might be at date at the bottom 1817?? I think I see the bottom of the '8' but the first 1 is missing :dontknow:

The Silver cufflink with hand incised 'H' has to win find of the hunt :hello2:

Hey, that's cool Gary :icon_thumleft: Do they relic hunt?

Really surprised that the first relic still hasn't been id'ed

I've found a couple of the same ??? items. I thinkIt might be tyhe top to a leather "strop" for sharpening a razor. If you put your finger in the top it should fit perfectly. I'm curious myself!

do you have any pictures of the items? a couple have said they were going to post pictures that I'm still waiting on. ive looked and looked for something on the internet and keep coming up empty

great stuff as always-you guys are something else! keep at it and HH to ya!

I hear what you are saying about buying your relics and then posting them. :laughing9: It was rumored that me and my hunting buddies were doing the same thing. That actually was a compliment in my eye!! Let them say what they want to, your finds speak for themselves. You guys are obviously bigger people to let something so petty bother you. Good For You!

Love the silver!

More great finds!

I'm mostly curious about the crown piece as well. Looks like something was meant to be braced in the thicker brackets, and clamped in the upper portion. Oddly, I was thinking about a razor strop as well, but have nothing really to go by.
