well I wish I was the one that found this stuff but I just wanted to share a little metal detecting success story. I had a customer come in to the coin shop I work for a few days ago with a very old but fairly large canvas bag slightly dirty but full and heavy. The gentleman said he had some coins he wanted to sell and when he plopped the bag on the counter I was amazed to see it was full of 90% silver coins. well after dropping all of it in the coin counter it totaled out to be just shy of $800.00 face value, needles to say there where a lot of halves and quarters not that many dimes at all. The total pay out for the coins was right around $17,500 the guy was literally jumping for joy and then went on to tell me he found this whole cache with his Whites MXT in an old garden that belonged to his father in law that had recently passed away. The property had been around since the early 1930's and had gone through at least 4 owners so who knows who buried it there. It just goes to show you sometimes there is buried treasure in your own back yard.
I wish I took some pics of the loot, I wasn't thinking I will next time though.
Oh yeah and a funny little tid bit I asked him what plans he had for the money and the first thing he said was "I'm going to buy a new and better metal detector" Haha
