I got a chance to head back into the water with the ATPro. I spent 3.5 hours doing a small section of beach and a decent section of one of the 3 fresh water swimming areas in a local park. The beach yielded a few coins including a 5 quarter spill. The park usage is way down this year because of the pandemic and so the finds are not as good as usual.

It’s funny how these things go. I’m swingin along in the water following my grid pattern getting a few coins and some cheapy jewelry on each pass. Then I hit a dead zone, not even ferrous signals. It’s like that for 3 full passes and I’m thinking maybe I should move to another location. I get a nice tight 59/60 on the VDI and out pops this nice gold ring in knee deep water. It just proves you should never give up, just keep swingin away and sooner or later the goodies will get under your coil.

I ended up with 38 coins with a face value of $5.47 (includes a dollar coin and bill eyeballed in the water), 3 toy cars, a bunch of cheapy jewelry, 2 split shot sinkers, a novelty coin, a silver bead, a silver earring back, a gold ring, a tungsten ring, a few foil bits and 5 can tabs.

The bead is a silver hinged pandora style heart shaped bead with czs. The big ring is tungsten carbide. They are becoming much more common these days.

I also found this genuine pirate coin with a chest of gold on one side and a pirate on the other advertising Florida Pool Products.

And the star of the show is the gold ring. It is 10k and weighs .15 troy ounces or 4.7 grams with 3 diamonds (2 at .1 and 1 at .2 carats, total diamond weight .4 carats). It’s been a while since I found a gold ring so it was a nice surprise and the ice makes it even better. Money is great to find, but there is just something about finding gold that makes the day.

I made a few more trips out to the scout camp swingin the CZ21. On the first one I found 149 coins with a face value of $12.47, 49 camp tent pegs, stainless spoon matches knife I found recently, 2 blank cartridges (FN star head stamp rifle and TW 73 pistol casing), sinkers, an angel token, current style neckerchief slide, Canadian dime and a stainless mess kit knife.

On the next trip I found 152 coins with a face value of $10.85, 72 camp tent pegs, a Lock back knife, Sinkers, hat pin backs and a 1 year pin.

I went to a town park and did a short hunt with 59 coins with a face value of $3.01, a cheapy ring, a butter knife from out of the gravel (what a mess), 2 wheaties ( a 1948 and a real crusty 1916) and an odd brass turnkey type item (looks similar to a CW shoulder scale turnkey, but it’s not a good match).

The weather is hot and dry. All the streams are drying up, the lake water is down and the ground is like concrete. I sure hope it rains soon. The scout camp finds are in the woods and usually shallow so easy to dig. I’ll be going back to camp tomorrow and try my luck again. Thanks for looking and may your coil lead you to good things.

Once again great array of digs, I love going to the old scout camps. Beautiful ring, you're right about finding gold, nothing like it

Congrats on the numerous finds with a gold surprise! :icon_thumleft:

The scout camp has been very good to me. The ring is a nice one and my wife doesn’t like it so I get to keep this one. Thanks, stay safe and keep swingin.

"and an odd brass turnkey type item (looks similar to a CW shoulder scale turnkey, but it’s not a good match)"

Your turnkey appears to be a tuning peg from a cheap guitar that broke off.

Sounds like a possibility. If not from a guitar maybe some other string instrument. Thanks for the input, stay safe and keep swingin.
