I had another look & although you can tell its all hand forged it does look somewhat like other garden tools from the 1940s.It looks like a Bullfrog gig from the early 50’s.
Looks iron/steelVery neat and well made. It looks like it was lost before it was used very much judging by the crossbar still being straight. I would think it would have bent fairly easily where the center "tine" connects to the frame.
Speaking of the center "tine", it looks like it had a 90-degree bend to the end where it connected to the crossbar so it could be locked into place by pounding on it with a hammer.
Can you tell what type of metal it is made of? (The corrosion makes me think iron but knowing it would be used around water, the maker might have used brass?)
