Nickel edge number?

Since there are no more coins boxes to be had at the bank I sorted through some of the stuff I have. You know he kind of coins...for later.
Anyway, I would be very happy if you guys could help me out figuring out what it is. I have a list will start with this one.
Looks like a 2 at the edge. What to make of it?

Whatever it is it was applied after minting of the coin so you can call it post mint damage or tinkering...
