Nickels

So I did my box of nickels and got some decent stuff.

1-1945p war nickel
1-1955
1-1955d
a handful of others from the 1950s

I also got a beautiful 1994p. It isn't shiny like a proof but looks a lot nicer than any I have found. I saw that there is a special release 1994p. How can I tell if that is one or not?
Also,
When I was looking up rare dates in my redbook, I saw that 1982's and 1992's had a much higher value than many other years. The box was full of them. I know that the redbook isn't the end all be all of values, but are they worth keeping, or was the book wrong?

I would say the mint #'s are low then the price increases. It is across the board on mintage figures. High years have less of a premium, low years are bumped up some. Hold onto them, they are worth .07 a pop for melt. For the 1994 there is a matte proof low mintage. Check here http://jeffersonnickelguide.com/1994-p-matte-proof-jefferson-nickel/

Thanks for the heads up. I am pretty sure that it could be one, but I can never tell from pictures I did compare it to the other 1994's that I found in the box and there is a clear difference, but who knows.

I don't know if your '94 is something special or not, but for what it's worth, I seem to always find very, very nice 1994 nickels.
