So I was digging a couple of 1 foot holes in the garden to plant some hops for home brewing and I noticed a coin in one of the holes. I picked it up and saw it was a penny and assumed it was a stinkin' lincoln because this house was built in the 70's. I cleaned it off anyways and to my surprise I had dug my first ever wheat penny. It is a 1939, no mintmark wheat penny.

Sorry about the horrendous photos, I am trying to take them on a flip phone. The coin is toasty but has much better details than I can get with this camera.

Got the hops, some carrots, beets, onions and bush beans. Hopefully there is a little silver growing in there as well somewhere. The whole yard was overgrown with ivy and blackberry bushes when we moved in so I can only search the little areas that we have cleared so far.

Looks like someone was growing wheat there before your house was built.:laughing7:
