New dig rules in city parks was a bummer. But I was able to do ok with some surface finds. This is a 20 minute hunt with no digging. Got to love city parks.

Not bad! Is that ring marked?

yeah pretty good, is the ring bling or real deal

ring isnt marked but its silver, detector pretty good about that. May be silver plate but looks high quaility. I didnt take a loupe to it, couldnt find a mark. I have to see if the wife will let me sell it first, then Ill have it appraised.

Wife keeps the good stuff

I just couldn't do it. If I were swinging my detector in a no dig area and had a super duper, right on the money silver coin hit I would have to dig it and probably end up in the slammer. I would not be able to look only for surface finds. So I commend you for that and all the neat finds.

Congrats on the finds, Boy..No dig would kill me, passing up a perfect signal because it isn't on the surface..Cant wait for November myself.

probing is allowed and I have a 11" inch screw driver for that. Just dont do it during the peak hours thats all.

Nice ones, Casca. I hope there aren't many other people detecting there. We have a park here that has the same rules except probing isn't even allowed. I haven't given it a try yet, but after seeing your finds, I may have to. At the end of school each year, many schools have field trips there. Good luck on your next outing. Guess you'll have to stay on top of that one!

Casca , Nice finds - Does the city require a permit to probe these parks as well ? and do you know if La Mesilla is included in the ban ?

Well Old Dude it looks like the rules have run off most of us. The finds were pretty good which tells me it hasnt been hit in a while. But I did not find anything deeper than a inch so I could be wrong.

Argentium, a permit is required for the Las Cruces city parks which La Mesilla is included. But La Mesilla is historic, so far seems no changes to the city parks. I have found some very old stuff in la mesilla and would say thats about to be off limits if it isnt already. The university has grabbed up thousands if not millions of acres lately and its all going off limits.
