No MM 1942 Nickel Need Help

Since it has no mint mark it is from the Philadelphia mint. They made some that were non silver before they started making them with 35% silver. I keep them because they are old and I don't find too many of them.

8/30/12 using a Zircon m40 Stud Finder as a hand held pin pointer.

I gotta say that you take good photos!

You should get "A Guide Book of U.S. Coins" aka The Red Book. It doesn't have to be the '2016 Edition' to be useful. If you don't want to be a coin collector but still want to know if a cool find might be of value, an older Red Book can give you a good idea of what to look for on the coin as well as an approx RETAIL price value for it.
