I found a marijuana pipe yesterday at a park about 2 miles from my house. It was elaborate, made of brass and maybe lucite? I smelled it, I was afraid it could have been crack, I don't know if crack has a smell. It smelled like grilled chicken so I figured it was marijuana. I didn't know what to do with it, there were no trash cans readily available without walking past a cop car that was perched by the swing sets, so I just laid it on some bleechers and moseyed on. I guess I could have just given it to the police, but I sensed paperwork and questions way beyond what I was in the mood to answer, or would have even had answers for.

What would ya'll have done?

Come to think of it, you should have buried it - let someone else find the "treasure" :)

we all make mistakes.......hindsight's 20/20..........and looking back its still a bit fuzzy.........lol.....we all would handle this situation differently.....that's what makes us........us. I can't really see a wrong or right just depends on the person you are. I have a couple of items which look like one hitters to me, in which I found. Cleaned em and added them to the stash...so to speak. I think we have all said at one time or another...."a find is a find", do what you will with it. Who knows maybe if I find something of that nature with initials or a name maybe I would try to return it just as some have done with class rings......lol. Happy Hunting all gregd573

In North carolina they can bust you for having a seed and charge you with manufacturing a controlled substance and make you pay tax on the amount of pot that might have come from the seed you planted and you have to take a class on how bad pot is, and you're sitting in there with a bunch of loser 18-26 year old kids who got busted for actually smoking the stuff or had beer under the age of 21. And at the end of the month long class you have to stand up and tell them what you learned. Not that I would know....
Didn't know that ! :o :-[ .Think i will pitch it from which it came !!! I most certainly don't wanna be labeled as a drug user of any kind.Hope i don't get busted with the thing before i get back to the creek tomorrow ! I am very paranoid about it now.I will bury it so kids can get a hold of it too.

Smelled like grilled chicken? Crack pipes are all glass, so if this one had brass fittings then it was probably a pot pipe. Anyway, it isn't something I'd stick in my pocket and take home but I've found a few over the years before I started metal detecting. I remember I was working in a store when I was in college and I found a big bag of pot on the floor. :o

IF ANYBODY FINDS ANYTHING LIKE THAT AGAIN PLEASE SEND IT 2 ME AND I WILL TEST IT MYSELF AND SEND U BACK THE RESULTS ;D,ALSO ANY COINS OR CASH OR MYSTRY BAGS ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Hmmm somebody else turns it in with your fingerprints all over it? don't be surprised if you get an early morning knock on the door. they like to have the raids early when everyones asleep.

Joking

I would have gave it to the police. since I cut my hair I almost look like an upstanding citizen now. they probably have lots of people turning in stuff. most users are not stupid enough to hand their stash to a cop but then again maybe they are

Keep it as part of your collection, having a pipe is not illegal, using it is.

I found a syringe yesterday while searching near a ball park. I carefully put it into a bottle in the trash can. Kinda scary while you are digging around with your hands in the dirt.

Now that's a scarry thought! Be carefull folks, I dig at the beah with my bare hands sometimes too, although I usually wear thick gardening gloves when I'm detecting. A needle could easily penetrate those.
