Since we had been planning on going over to Melbourne county this past Thurs (yep! during Fay) for some time, we went anyway. Several days of hunting in all kinds of wind and torrential rains on about 8 or more of the beaches in that area did not give the three of us much to show. Guess during bad weather is not the greatest time to go.
In fact, I was thinking my metal detector was broken or something and so even though we got home last night, first thing one of my son's and I did this morning was go to a local beach. Guess my machine started working.
The first photo is of hours and hours of hunting for several days on the other coast. The copper disk and advertising knife were packed with hardened sand and I am in the process of cleaning them. I found two tokens - one for Celebration Station and another for a car wash and $1.12.
- the second photo represents just a few hours this morning. $2.04 plus the ring and a little heart charm. We are thinking the "Amor" ring is gold - it has been resized and where something had been written, it is worn down.
We did see many homes piling their furnishings, carpets and wallboards by the street after being flooded. Also, I found some baby turtles that had not made it through the storm. One of the roads we went over was closed shortly after we passed there around 6 a.m. - water was lapping at both sides and it was nearly impossible to see it between the rain and darkness.
Anyway, had a nice visit with family and fun searching different beaches plus met a few other detectorists who were out braving the elements, too. I had never been out before hunting where all the rain drops were big enough to have their own whitecaps.
