No one has been banned for "daring to speak his name", now attacking him or any member can get someone in trouble.

No news, not expecting any anytime soon. I "spoke" with FinderKeeper via private messaging but I can't share that info as that would be a rule infraction as well. Enough time has passed now that the official FBI record may be obtainable via Freedom of Information request. I submitted a request shortly after the debacle and the FBI replied that "no information is available at this time." Reasons given:

Not enough time has elapsed to have the data recorded and on file (case is too new).

Data not available due to on going investigation.

Used Improper search term(s)

FYI, I submitted the free electronic request that's conducted by webbots. I had no idea on what search word(s) to use, I used "Dent's Run". I don't know FBIspeak, it's possible there is something on file but who knows what key words they use when filing reports. And who knows how good they're automatic search function is either. A traditional FOIA request may be the best route, I honestly don't know. At any rate, my curiosity is satisfied and I'll not submit any further requests.

I read in an FBI statement that no treasure was found, but the investigation is still going on. Can't remember where I seen it, I see no need for further investigation if nothing found. HH

I live pretty close to Dents Run. Lots of small towns filled with people who have nothing better to do than mind everyone else's business.

I’m curious about that too. Both buried in caves and difficult to reach..both found with extreme depth detectors.

Such tantalizing stories about found treasure, then they leave you hanging.

No offense intended, but you must not have been watching any of the major league stonewalling going on by all sorts of gov't agencies with regards to the Dept. of Justice and others involving turning over information. If they can hold off in major, high profile cases like they have been, avoiding any requests regarding Dent's Run will be a cake walk.

The story in the newspaper, # 10, the FBI was on the site for 2 days in March with snow on the ground, they did no digging and no recovering of gold. Many members who I believe are experts treasure hunters stated that the story is not true. Mel was a expert who had spend millions of dollars of his own money to find sunken treasures. If gold was recovered, it would be given to the federal government. As I stated many times, if I was involve, I would have my lawyers with the help of my U S Senators write up a solid contract giving me a finder fees. If the gold was recovered, it would be on nightly news on ABC, NBC, and CBS. I never intended in calling anybody liars. Finders Keepers stated that they want to do TV shows, where they bury treasures that they recovered. The face is no gold was found. I wish Dennis the best of luck in his TV shows and seeking bury treasures. I would never go on this website and tell members about stories that I am researching. Each to their own. I would like to hear from other members on this subject.
